Current Professional Summary

Currently, Dr Waldura's primary clinical role is that of HIV Consultant for the National HIV/AIDS Clinicians’ Consultation Center (NCCC), where she provides telephone consultation to clinicians throughout the United States regarding care of their HIV/AIDS patients. She also advises clinicians about the management of exposures to blood-borne pathogens and the use of post-exposure prophylaxis.

Dr Waldura acts as Director of the NCCC’s National Perinatal HIV Hotline, which she helped establish. The Hotline provides telephone consultation to clinicians caring for HIV-infected pregnant women and their infants. She is responsible for training and supervising the physicians and pharmacists who staff the phone lines and acts as a primary consultant on challenging perinatal cases. She conducts CQI sessions, as well as administrative and research activities for the Hotline.

Since 2006, Dr Waldura has been on the Department of Health and Human Services Panel on Treatment of HIV-Infected Pregnant Women and Prevention of Perinatal Transmission, which produces the national perinatal HIV practice guidelines.

Her research is focused on identifying effective and economical interventions to improve the quality of care delivered to HIV-infected individuals in the primary care setting.
