Dermatologic Manifestations of HIV Disease

Although the frequency of dermatologic diseases in HIV-infected patients has decreased with the use of potent antiretroviral therapy where available, dermatologic disorders remain common in the HIV-infected population. Common conditions include inflammatory diseases, infectious diseases, and neoplastic diseases.

In the December 2005/January 2006 issue of Topics in HIV Medicine, a review on the Dermatologic Manifestations of HIV Infection summarized a talk given by Toby A. Maurer, MD, at the 8th Annual Clinical Conference for Ryan White CARE Act clinicians in New Orleans, Louisiana, in June 2005.

In January 2007, the IAS–USA published a folding card, offering an updated overview of the dermatologic manifestations of HIV, as well as treatment options, which easily expands to a wall chart suitable for hanging. To receive up to 2 complimentary copies of the Dermatologic Manifestations of HIV Infection resource card, or to order additional cards in bulk, please fax or mail an order form or send an e-mail to info2011 "at" iasusa.org.

The illustrative figures of dermatologic manifestations used in the Top HIV Med review article are available for download in PowerPoint format.

In the February/March 2010 issue of Topics in HIV Medicine, a special contribution article by Erin Huiras Amerson, MD, and Toby A. Maurer, MD, describes Dermatologic Manifestations of HIV in Africa. A folding card based on the article was published in August 2010. To receive up to 2 complimentary copies of the Dermatologic Manifestations of HIV Infection in Africa resource card, or to order additional cards in bulk, please fax or mail an order form or send an e-mail to info2011 "at" iasusa.org.
