COURSE OVERVIEW

Assessment of Needs:

These intensive half-day workshops are limited to 35 clinicians (physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners), this small-group interactive workshop is designed to enhance your professional development and improve your clinical practice in the field of hepatitis C virus (HCV) management.

The workshops will address the following issues:

  • Emerging data on investigational new drugs for HCV and classes that will be available to clinicians

  • Application of combination chemotherapy in HCV infection

  • Management of patients with HCV/HIV coinfection

Conflicts of Interest:

Information regarding financial relationships with commercial companies that have interests in the content discussed, is obtained from all parties with control over the activity content (ie, co-chairs, faculty, and IAS–USA staff), and any real or apparent conflicts of interest of those parties are resolved prior to the activity being delivered. Financial affiliations of all those parties are published in the course syllabus. Individuals who refuse to disclose financial interests may not participate in the CME activity.

Who Should Attend:

Experienced clinical decision makers (physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants) who are or will be caring for or are interested in caring for patients with HCV or HBV infections.

Representatives and employees of commercial companies (pharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical products, advertising, insurance, investment, communications firms, etc) must contact the IAS–USA regarding registration procedures.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the IAS-USA viral hepatitis workshops, participants will be able to:

  • Describe HCV replication and its impact on drug development and treatment strategies

  • List key data from clinical trials of direct-acting antivirals in patients with HCV infection who are treatment naive, and in whom HCV treatment has failed

  • Discuss the mechanisms of HCV resistance

  • Identify current and future treatment options for HCV-infected patients, including appropriate screening, initiation of therapy, monitoring for response, and avoidance of drug-drug interactions

 

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION INFORMATION

Accreditation:

The IAS–USA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation Statement:

The IAS–USA designates this educational activity for a maximum of 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
