Assessment of Needs
IAS–USA has expanded its mission to include activities that relate to the management of viral infections other than HIV. Rapid advances in treatment are anticipated with the introduction of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) to the HCV treatment paradigm. With the projected large increase in the number of patients who will require HCV treatment in the near future, clinicians who are experts in the complexities of antiretroviral management are uniquely well positioned to join our hepatology and gastroenterology colleagues in providing care for these patients, in what promises to be an exciting new era in HCV care.
Upon completion of this IAS–USA live activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe and contrast the recommended treatments for HCV by genotype
- Determine how the expected new treatments affect their current provision of HCV care
- Identify which patients to refer
