CROI 2022 Update, Conference Dates, and Deadlines

Mark the date: November 1, 2021, is the general abstract and scholarship submission deadline for the 29th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI). CROI 2022 will be held on February 13 to 16, 2022, and is currently planned as a hybrid conference to include both virtual and in-person participation. The in-person component, hosted in Denver, Colorado, USA, will feature additional sessions and networking opportunities for those attending live. The CROI Scientific Program Committee will monitor the COVID-19 pandemic carefully in terms of changes in the safety and practicality of hosting an in-person component.

As always, the best and most consequential original research will define the science at CROI 2022, including research in HIV, hepatitis viruses, SARS-CoV-2, and other viral infections and their related conditions.

General Abstract Submission: The later general abstract submission deadline of November 1, 2021, has been set to allow more investigators to submit their research for CROI 2022. General abstracts will account for the largest percentage of accepted abstracts (usually about 50% of general abstracts submitted are accepted).

Late-Breaking Abstract Submission (January 5, 2022 Deadline): Data analyzed after the general abstract submission deadline should not be submitted as a late-breaker unless they meet a high threshold of scientific merit. The selection criteria are much more rigorous than for general abstracts, and only about 5% of late-breaking abstracts are accepted.

Key dates and deadlines, including those for general and late-breaking abstract submissions are listed on the CROI Important Dates and Deadlines webpage. Check the CROI Website regularly for updates.
