The International Antiviral Society–USA sponsors CME activities designed to provide cutting-edge information for practitioners who are actively involved in medical care of people with HIV or other viral infections. Core course components include:

  • New and investigational drugs in HIV/AIDS therapy
  • New and investigational drugs for other viral infections including hepatitis C
  • New data presented at selected research conferences
  • Strategies for initiating antiretroviral therapy
  • Managing metabolic complications of HIV disease and its therapies
  • Managing antiretroviral failure
  • Interpretation of antiretroviral drug resistance testing
  • Management of HIV/hepatitis C virus coinfection
  • HIV pathogenesis as it relates to treatment strategies

Activity Faculty

The IAS–USA Core Faculty includes recognized leaders in the field of viral disease research and treatment. For each CME course, national leaders team with local experts to tailor courses to the clinicians’ needs in the region. Information is presented through didactic lectures and case-based panel discussions. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, and an Audience Response System is utilized to facilitate discussion and the sharing of experiences.


Presentation Locations

Courses are held in select regions where physicians and other practitioners are likely to have in their care a high proportion of patients with HIV or other viral infections.


ACCME Accreditation

The International Antiviral Society-USA (IAS–USA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.


Attendance Policy

It is the policy of the IAS-USA that its activities be organized and conducted in such a manner as to create an appropriate, educational environment that is designed to maximize the educational value of the conferences and thereby further the overall mission of the IAS-USA. The Executive Director (and the Executive Director’s designees) may, from time to time, establish rules or take such actions as may be necessary or appropriate to further this policy, including policies or actions relating to conduct by attendees, attendance of registrants, and use of materials presented at the conferences.


Cancellation Policy

Cancellation requests must be made 8 or more days before the date of an activity. All refunds will be processed a week after the course minus a $15.00 processing charge. Regrettably, any cancellation requests received within a week before the course will not be eligible for the partial refund.
