Program Description

The COVID-19 pandemic has created an urgent need for reliable scientific information. Our understanding of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 disease changes almost daily. Unfortunately, there are also misunderstandings, miscommunications, and controversies. In response, the IAS−USA has created a program that will bring together leading experts to discuss the latest science regarding COVID-19 and what the data and research are telling us about the basic science, public health, and clinical aspects of the disease and the consequences of the pandemic. The Dialogue series is intended for healthcare clinicians and researchers, including infectious disease and HIV specialists.

Michael S. Saag, MD, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will be conversing with renowned infectious disease expert Mark J. Mulligan, MD, of New York University, to discuss the latest developments on the road to effective COVID-19 vaccines. Dr Mulligan is an international leader in infectious disease research programs and currently serves as the director of NYU Langone Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology and Vaccine Center. Dr Mulligan is currently leading global efforts to identify a COVID-19 vaccine.
