Case: A 26-Year-Old Man With HIV Infection: Follow-up

Clinical Decision Point H

The patient returns for follow-up 1 year later. He has been adherent to his medications or followed up regularly, and his most recent CD4+ cell count is 256/µL (CD4+ cell percentage, 15%). He received a PPSV23 vaccine at his last visit, along with the current flu vaccine. After completing his immunization series for hepatitis A and B viruses, he has detectable antibodies for both. He is planning a trip next month to East Africa, where he will visit Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
