Assessment of Needs
This state-of-the-art activity is part of a nationwide continuing education effort for physicians on the evolving challenges of managing relevant viral infections and concomitant diseases and comorbidities. This webinar will provide a review of the prevention of human papillomavirus (HPV)-related anal cancer in persons with HIV. Additionally, we will explore various regional and organizational guidelines and why HPV vaccination of older adults with HIV is controversial and might not be effective.
Learning Objectives
On completion of this webinar, learners will be able to:
- Describe the current epidemiology of anal cancer in persons with HIV
- List current guidelines for anal cancer screening and discuss why consensus guidelines do not yet exist
- Describe the expected effect of HPV vaccination in anal cancer prevention and the basis for current vaccination guidelines

This webinar is designed for clinical decision makers who are actively involved in HIV care and research, including physicians, physician assistants, nursing professionals, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.

Conflicts of Interest
In the interest of maintaining the independence of its continuing medical education (CME) activities, the International Antiviral Society–USA (IAS–USA) requires all persons with control of educational content (eg, faculty, Scientific Leadership Board, Governance Board, and program planner) to disclose any financial relationships with ineligible companies (previously defined as “commercial interests”) that they have had within the past 24 months. The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) defines ineligible companies as “those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.”
IAS–USA will identify and resolve ahead of time any possible conflicts of interest that may influence CME activities with regard to exposition or conclusion. The International Antiviral Society–USA (IAS–USA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The IAS–USA designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ABIM MOC Points
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.25 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. IAS-USA, the CME activity provider, will submit your participant information (eg, name, date of birth, activity credits earned, ABIM MOC number) to ABIM through the PARS system for the purpose of reporting ABIM MOC credits.
