Assessment of Needs
The management and treatment of patients with HIV constantly evolves as new data are presented at conferences and published in scholarly journals. This webinar summarizes current and new data on the HIV epidemic, including data from recent clinical trials and updates from recent conferences. Topics include the management of people with HIV, the prevention and management of opportunistic infections, and non-AIDS-related complications of HIV, such as cancer, cardiometabolic disease, and weight gain.
Learning Objectives
On completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Describe progress made toward ending the HIV epidemic, including trends in new infections and the new United States Preventive Services Task Force guidelines for preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) guidelines and the metabolic effects of PrEP
- Describe new data on the management of treatment-naïve and experienced patients
- Summarize data on the prevention and management of opportunistic infections, such as syphilis, human papillomavirus, and tuberculosis meningitis
- Describe recent data on the management of non-AIDS-related complications of HIV disease, such as cancer, cardiometabolic disease, and weight gain
- Incorporate current COVID-19 oral antiviral agents into the treatment of their patients and describe the current data on post-acute sequelae and vaccine efficacy in those who are immunocompromised

Who Should Attend
This webinar is designed for clinical decision-makers who are actively involved in HIV care and research, including physicians, physician assistants, nursing professionals, and other health care professionals.

Conflicts of Interest
In the interest of maintaining the independence of its continuing medical education (CME) activities, the International Antiviral Society–USA (IAS–USA) requires all persons with control of educational content (eg, faculty, Scientific Leadership Board, Governance Board, and program planner) to disclose any financial relationships with ineligible companies (previously defined as “commercial interests”) that they have had within the past 24 months. Any real or apparent conflicts of interest of those parties are resolved and mitigated prior to the CME activity being delivered. Individuals who refuse to disclose financial interests may not participate in IAS–USA CME activities.
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) defines ineligible companies as “those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.”
IAS–USA will identify and resolve ahead of time any possible conflicts of interest that may influence CME activities with regard to exposition or conclusion.
