March 17, 2020:
As you know, many agencies and institutions have banned travel and attending meetings, and many infectious disease physicians are urgently needed to care for patients with COVID-19. With your feedback from the survey we sent out on Tuesday and the World Health Organization declaring COVID-19 a pandemic, we have decided to postpone the Annual Update on HIV Management in Atlanta.

Once we decide on a new date for the in-person course, your registration will automatically transfer. In the meantime, we will have a special web-based CROI update for you to participate in on March 26, 2020. Please check your emails and the IAS–USA website regularly for updates.

We thank you for your feedback, understanding, and support during this uncertain time.

Assessment of Needs

Rapid advances in HIV disease management require the ongoing attention of practitioners involved in HIV medicine. This course will address the implications of new information on strategies for clinical management.

This is a special web-based update on Virtual CROI 2020 for New York and Atlanta course attendees. The live webinar will highlight data presented at CROI, including:

  • Update on HIV Cure Research
  • Current Understanding of the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Advances in Antiretroviral Therapy
  • Grab Bag of various other issues, including preexposure prophylaxis, concomitant conditions and opportunistic diseases, and unique populations

Learning Objectives

After participating in the activity, learners will be better able to:

  • Describe current basic science research on advances toward a cure for HIV
  • Describe current data around the COVID-19 pandemic
  • List the most recent findings from clinical trials in the field of HIV and the implications of these data for state-of-the-art treatment strategies
  • Describe current data around preexposure prophylaxis, concomitant conditions and opportunistic diseases, and unique populations

Conflicts of Interest

In the interest of maintaining the independence of its CME activities, and in accordance with the policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the IAS–USA requires all persons with control of content (eg, faculty, IAS–USA Board members, and program staff) to disclose any financial relationships that they or their spouses or partners have had with commercial companies within the past 12 months. Any real or apparent conflicts of interest of those parties are resolved prior to the CME activity being delivered. Individuals who refuse to disclose financial interests may not participate in an IAS–USA CME activity.

The ACCME defines a commercial interest as “any entity producing, marketing, re-selling, or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients. The ACCME does not consider providers of clinical service directly to patients to be commercial interests – unless the provider of clinical service is owned, or controlled by, an ACCME-defined commercial interest.”

Registration

Please note that participation in this activity is only available to those who had registered for the New York and Atlanta Annual Update on HIV Management live courses, which have been postponed due to the international COVID-19 pandemic. If you are registered for either live course, you will be automatically registered for the webinar.

Who Should Attend

This advanced webinar is designed for clinical decision makers who are actively involved in HIV care and research. It is also relevant for registered nurses, PharmDs, and other health professionals.

Cancellation Policy

Once we determine the new dates for the in-person courses, your registration will automatically transfer. Your registration fee is fully refundable if you wish to cancel and request a refund. Please note that due to San Francisco’s shelter in place ordinance, it may take a few weeks to process.
