Overview

Assessment of Needs

The IAS–USA offers this state-of-the-art activity on the evolving challenges of managing HCV disease as part of a nationwide continuing medical education (CME) effort for physicians. The current armamentarium of direct-acting antiviral (DAA) treatments for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is vast. Among currently available treatments are 1-pill coformulations; US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)–approved pangenotypic regimens; and regimens to treat HCV infection in persons with severe comorbidities such as chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal disease, and decompensated cirrhosis. In light of the possible availability of 2 new coformulations, including the first triple drug regimen for HCV-infected treatment-experienced persons, this webinar will review available data for these currently investigational regimens.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Name 2 investigational HCV regimens pending approval by the FDA
  • Describe the safety and efficacy of these investigational DAA regimens
  • Describe which HCV-infected individuals might benefit from these regimens, if available
