Preserving the well-being and emotional resilience of health care professionals is an important factor in maintaining essential health care services during these challenging times. With the growing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, clinicians and other frontline health care professionals have been dealing with and are particularly vulnerable to anxiety, stress, and other negative mental health effects. In response to this, IAS-USA is sponsoring a special webinar on stress management for health care professionals who are actively responding to COVID-19. The first half of the webinar will go over stress and anxiety management techniques, and the second half will allow discussion between participants and the presenters regarding the range of health care provider concerns and responses to the crisis.

Learning Objectives

On completion of this webinar, learners will be able to:

• Describe potential detrimental effects of transitioning from acute stress reactions to chronic stress reactions during difficult times
• Describe three overarching ways (unplug and anchor, charge up, be of service) to build resilience and mitigate the effects of pandemic stress on emotional health
• Identify specific techniques to prevent burnout and other negative reactions to acute and chronic severe stress

Conflicts of Interest

In the interest of maintaining the independence of its CME activities, and in accordance with the policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the IAS–USA requires all persons with control of content (eg, faculty, IAS–USA Board members, and program staff) to disclose any financial relationships that they or their spouses or partners have had with commercial companies within the past 12 months. The ACCME does not consider providers of clinical service directly to patients to be commercial interests – unless the provider of clinical service is owned, or controlled by, an ACCME-defined commercial interest.”
