In addition to a state-of-the-art invited program, the Conference on Bacteriophages: Biology, Dynamics, and Therapeutics highlights abstract-driven presentations showcasing the latest scientific advances and potential clinical applications of bacteriophages. Abstracts are selected for either poster or oral presentation based on the format deemed most effective by the Scientific Committee. Presentation format details are included in disposition emails. Please see below for important preparation guidelines.
Presenting Authors Provide Financial Discloses
Presenting author should Log in or create an IAS-USA profile and access the Financial Disclosure form by clicking their name in the Upper Left of the home page and selecting the Financial Disclosure link in the menu. Disclose any financial relationships with ineligible companies (previously defined as “commercial interests”) that they have had within the past 24 months. If the presenting author already has an IAS-USA account with a financial disclosure, they should review and verify that the disclosure is still accurate. Any actual or apparent conflicts of interest of those parties are resolved and mitigated before the continuing medical education (CME) activity is delivered. The ACCME defines an ineligible company as “those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing health care products used by or on patients. A current financial disclosure statement is required of all presenters at the Conference on Bacteriophages.
Abstract Disposition, Presentation Type, and Session Information
Details of the session date and time are included in an email to presenters from phages@iasusa.org and can also be found in the Abstract Submission System in the Session Details section accessed through the My Submissions link (navigation bar on the left).
Below are details to help prepare presenting authors for their poster or oral presentation.
Speaker Center
Using the credentials sent by email from phages@iasusa.org, oral and poster presenters can access the SPEAKER CENTER to update their profile and view session information for abstracts on which they are listed as an author or coauthor:
- My Sessions: In the left navigation menu, click this link to see a list of presentations where you are listed as an author or coauthor. Click on the presentation title to see more information about the session and time of the presentation
- My Profile: Click this link to upload an optional headshot, your professional title, website, contact information, and social media links. This information is visible to conference attendees only through the mobile app. We do encourage you to complete as much of the information as you like as a networking tool with other attendees. We will not share any of this information outside of the conference.
Poster Presenters: See the information for Poster Presenters section (below) for details on how to upload your digital poster.
Poster presentations are a cornerstone of the conference, offering an in-depth look at the latest research. These sessions give presenters the opportunity to highlight key findings and engage directly with attendees in one-on-one or small-group discussions. Poster Abstract Sessions represent the largest share of new scientific content at the meeting. Each presenter will be scheduled to stand with their poster during an assigned session to discuss their work. All posters will be available for viewing throughout the conference in the poster hall and digitally via the Conference App (accessible to registered attendees only).
Maximum Poster Dimension: Posters must fit within a 4′ x 4′ (121 cm x 121 cm) space. We do not provide on-site printing services at the conference, so please bring your printed poster with you or arrange for a local printer to print your poster.
Poster Design: Posters should be designed to attract interested attendees by quickly focusing them on the study’s main findings. In addition to a description of the study background, methods, results, and conclusions and any graphics, posters should contain:
- Poster Title: The poster title should be the same as the title submitted with the abstract and appear in boldface at the top of the poster in standard American Medical Association (AMA) title case. Nouns, pronouns, verbs, and other important words begin with uppercase letters; coordinating conjunctions, articles, and prepositions of 3 letters or fewer should be in lowercase unless they are the first or last words in a title or subtitle
- Authors and Contributors: Below the title, the poster should include a list of authors that contributed to the abstract. The poster may contain additional authors beyond those listed on the abstract if the individuals meet the qualifications for authorship
- Assigned Poster Number: The assigned poster number should be displayed in the upper right corner. This number is sent to the presenting author in the Presentations Details email and is included as a number preceding the abstract title in the My Submissions section of the Abstract Submission system
- Corporate Logos and Trade Names: The use of commercial logos and trade names should not be used on posters
Digital Poster
Poster presenters are required to upload a digital version of their poster as a PDF file. This digital poster will be available to registered attendees through the Conference App. Digital posters should be uploaded by October 11, 2025, so they will be available to attendees when the conference opens.
- How to Upload Digital Poster: Access the SPEAKER CENTER using the credentials email to you from phages@iasusa.org (if you did not receive your credentials, email us for access). From the My Sessions link (left menu), click the title of the poster presentation and go to the Documents tab. Click the Upload Document button, use your abstract title as the document name, choose the file, and click the Save button.
Poster Sessions and Displaying Your Poster
Discussion by the presenter with conference attendees at the poster is crucial element of a poster presentation. Presenters are assigned a session to stand by their poster to discuss the work with conference attendees.
- Posters should be on display for the entire conference and should not removed before the end of the poster session on the last day
- Posters are assigned to a session with other poster presentations that share a similar theme and assigned to a day for presentation. Therefore, posters cannot be reassigned to another day for presentation
- Poster presenters should stand by their poster for the full duration of their assigned session to discuss it and respond to questions from attendees
- Poster presenters should make their travel plans keeping their session assignment in mind, as we cannot reassign posters to a different session. If exigent circumstances preclude the presenting author from attending the session, a replacement must be found to present the poster
Oral Abstract Sessions showcase cutting-edge research through concise podium presentations, with live Q&A.
The oral abstract sessions will include 7 presentations of 10 minutes each focused on new research, each shedding light on different aspects of bacteriophage research and applications. There will be 2 question-and-answer segments of 10 minutes each, with 1 after the first 3 speakers and the second after the remaining 4 speakers. Oral Presenters are not required to include a poster of their presentation.
Oral Presentation Guidelines
- Length: An oral abstract presentation should be 10 minutes long. We recommend no more than 10 content slides, in addition to the provided title slide.
- Slide Format:
- Slide Template: You are welcome to use the Optional Slide Template (download below) for a professional look that is consistent with the conference branding
- Title Slide: A prepopulated title slide is provided for you when you submit your final slides
- HD (Widescreen) Format: When preparing your presentation, note that high-definition (HD) projectors will be used for the conference. Please apply widescreen formatting when preparing your slides (aspect ratio 16:9; resolution 1920 x 1080)
- Font Size: For content slides, it is generally recommended to have a font size of 26 to 32 (based on Arial font) for text. This provides for around 7 lines of text, including a header. Details should be visible from the back of a large ballroom. Avoid overly detailed figures or large blocks of text
- Embedded Videos: Please test any embedded videos after you submit your slides in person at the conference
- Slide Submission: Please submit your FINAL presentation slides at least 24 hours before your presentation. You may deliver them in person to the IAS–USA Office/Speaker Ready Room or email them to phages@iasusa.org The IAS–USA team will insert 3 standardized slides into your deck before projection: a title slide, a disclosure slide, and a Q-and-A slide. These slides will match the conference design and will appear in the appropriate sequence – your title and disclosure slides at the beginning, and the Q-and-A slide at the end.
The IAS–USA Office/Speaker Ready Room (located in Columbia 3 and 4, Terrace Level) is open during the following hours:
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Monday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Tuesday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Session Check-In: Please check in with the session moderators at least 10 minutes before the start of the session, and sit at the front near the podium
- Timing: The 10-minute speaker time will be strictly enforced. A timer will be on display and presenters will be interrupted if they go over the 10-minute limit
